Teachers: Ariana Banks & Faith Whatley
With love from Nashville to Pakistan!
Hello! My name is Ariana, and I am super excited to be one of your teachers! This is my first year in college, and I am studying Secondary Education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I grew up in Northern California, which is very far away from where I am now. I don't mind too much, though, because Vanderbilt is great and there are lots of really nice people here (like my roommate Faith, who also happens to be your other teacher!) I love to read, sing, play guitar, and spend time with my family and friends. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!
Hello! My name is Mary and I am so excited to work with all of you! I grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and now attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am studying Political Science. I love history, spending time outdoors, reading novels, eating chocolate, and knitting. I can't wait to spend time with all of you!

Today's Lesson: Today we talked about music. We first talked about the history of music and the different classical periods. We also listened to songs composed by Bach and Mozart. Then, we discussed modern music and styles such as Country, Pop, and Rock. You all told us that you liked Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and Zac Efron! We enjoyed your singing once again. We hope you all will have blessed weeks! See you next time. **Here is a link to the power-point we would have used. Sorry for the technical difficulties**

It brightens our souls and mood. It shows pride. It is the universal language. It is a part of celebrations and entertainment.

Unity, love, progress, stars, hope, history, and strength were among the similarities we discussed. We also listened to the Spanish song "Bandera de Manos" which means "Flag of Hands" in English. We talked about the meaning of the song. We hope you will consider what the words mean to you throughout the week. Blessings and Smiles! **Here is a link to the slide-show we viewed during class**
